Campaign contact, updates, volunteering, and lawn signs

The campaign collects information that a person chooses to enter in its contact and lawn-sign forms. Depending on the request, that can include a name, email address, phone number, postal code or neighbourhood, volunteer interests, lawn-sign request details, and message content.

The campaign uses this information to answer messages, send requested campaign updates, organize volunteers and local conversations, respond to media requests, understand local concerns, and follow up on lawn-sign requests, delivery, placement, and collection when signs are permitted.

Forms may receive the reason selected and the page or link used so the campaign can direct the request and understand which public pages are useful. Do not use campaign forms for private health, legal, financial, or other highly sensitive information.

Opinion polls

Opinion polls record the selected option and limited technical information used to reduce repeat responses and abuse. This may include a random browser identifier, the first IP address supplied by the hosting network, browser type, and language settings.

Polls do not ask for a name, email address, phone number, street address, claimed residency, or a free-text story. The duplicate-prevention cookie lasts up to one year unless it is removed earlier in the browser. These controls reduce repeat responses but do not make an informal poll scientific.

Poll responses stay separate from campaign contact records

Answering an opinion poll does not subscribe anyone to campaign email, create a volunteer record, add a lawn-sign request, or attach the poll choice to a campaign contact form. A fuller concern can be sent through a separate form, but the campaign does not connect that message to the person's poll choice.

Because the campaign does not collect a poll respondent's name or email with the response, it generally cannot locate or correct one person's poll response. A respondent can remove the browser cookie, but that does not remove an existing aggregate response.

Port Hope Next

Port Hope Next is a youth engagement project operated by the Jordan Stevenson campaign, not a municipal service. No account is required to play either game. Ganaraska Rush aliases are generated by the site, not entered by players, and public leaderboards do not show real names. Choices in the Port Hope Challenge remain in the browser and are not sent to the campaign.

Youth Pulse records one option choice and uses a privacy-protective device check to reduce repeat responses. Results are presented only as aggregate informal campaign feedback. The form does not request a name, email, birthdate, school, exact age, or address. Poll choices, game activity, and challenge choices are not used to build supporter profiles or for political microtargeting.

Port Hope Next uses a random browser identifier to reduce repeat activity. Idea Lab email addresses are optional, used only for requested replies, and kept separate from idea text. Daily engagement totals do not include IP addresses, browser identifiers, survey choices, idea text, aliases, or scores.

Youth Idea Lab submissions remain private unless the campaign later contacts the submitter and receives permission to publish the idea. The form does not request a name, school, address, phone number, birthdate, or exact age. An email is optional, stored separately from the idea, and used only to reply.

The site stores generated aliases, scores, and privacy-protective integrity checks needed to operate the daily and weekly leaderboards and prevent abuse. It does not store raw IP addresses in Port Hope Next records. Functional first-party cookies or browser storage may keep an alias, personal best, duplicate-vote control, game state, and rate-limit signals. Removing browser storage may remove a local personal best but does not remove an already-counted aggregate response or score.

The website analytics service may receive aggregate events such as opening the hub, starting or completing a game, or successfully sending feedback. Those events do not include a poll choice, challenge choice, email, generated alias, idea content, score breakdown, or persistent user identifier.

Technical information

Like most websites, this site processes request logs, IP addresses, browser and device information, approximate location derived by service providers, security signals, and page activity needed to deliver and protect the site.

The website analytics service records website activity and the campaign's non-sensitive button events. Events include only the page path, button location, and general intent category. They do not include form values, names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal codes, message content, poll choices, donation amounts, or legal or health information.

Port Hope Five progress, personal game statistics and saved voting plans are stored in the visitor's browser. They are not sent to the campaign.

Services that process information

• Website hosting, security, and limited analytics services deliver and protect the site.
• Campaign form services receive contact, volunteer, update, concern, media, conversation, and lawn-sign submissions.
• Secure storage services hold opinion-poll responses and information submitted to the campaign.
• Short-lived abuse-prevention services help limit repeated or automated submissions.

These services process information for the functions described above. Follow-up requested through a campaign form is handled by the campaign.

How long information is kept

Contact, volunteer, update, concern, media, conversation, and lawn-sign records are kept while they are needed to respond and organize campaign activity, then reviewed for deletion when they are no longer needed. Some records may be retained longer when required for legal, security, dispute, or election compliance purposes.

Individual poll responses and duplicate-prevention data are removed after a poll has been closed for at least 180 days. Aggregate counts and public result summaries may be kept afterward.

Correction, deletion, and privacy questions

Contact the campaign to ask about personal information provided through a campaign form, request a correction, or ask for deletion where the campaign is allowed to remove the record. The campaign may need enough information to verify the request and may retain information that election or other law requires it to keep.
